Finding Hidden Cliques in Linear Time with High Probability

چکیده
We are given a graph G with n vertices, where a random subset of k vertices has been made into a clique, and the remaining edges are chosen independently with probability 1 2 . This random graph model is denoted G(n, 1 2 , k). The hidden clique problem is to design an algorithm that finds the k-clique in polynomial time with high probability. An algorithm due to Alon, Krivelevich and Sudakov uses spectral techniques to find the hidden clique with high probability when k = c √ n for a sufficiently large constant c > 0. Recently, an algorithm that solves the same problem was proposed by Feige and Ron. It has the advantages of being simpler and more intuitive, and of an improved running time of O(n). However, the analysis in the paper gives success probability of only 2/3. In this paper we present a new algorithm for finding hidden cliques that both runs in time O(n), and has a failure probability that is less than polynomially small.

Finding hidden cliques in linear time
In the hidden clique problem, one needs to find the maximum clique in an n-vertex graph that has a clique of size k but is otherwise random. An algorithm of Alon, Krivelevich and Sudakov that is based on spectral techniques is known to solve this problem (with high probability over the random choice of input graph) when k ≥ c √ n for a sufficiently large constant c. In this manuscript we presen...
متن کاملFinding Hidden Cliques of Size \sqrt{N/e} in Nearly Linear Time
Consider an Erdös-Renyi random graph in which each edge is present independently with probability 1/2, except for a subset CN of the vertices that form a clique (a completely connected subgraph). We consider the problem of identifying the clique, given a realization of such a random graph. The best known algorithm provably finds the clique in linear time with high probability, provided |CN | ≥ ...

متن کاملExtension of Cube Attack with Probabilistic Equations and its Application on Cryptanalysis of KATAN Cipher
Cube Attack is a successful case of Algebraic Attack. Cube Attack consists of two phases, linear equation extraction and solving the extracted equation system. Due to the high complexity of equation extraction phase in finding linear equations, we can extract nonlinear ones that could be approximated to linear equations with high probability. The probabilistic equations could be considered as l...
متن کاملCliques Role in Organizational Reputational Influence: A Social Network Analysis
Empirical support for the assumption that cliques are major determinants of reputational influence derives largely from the frequent finding that organizations which claimed that their cliques’ connections are influential had an increased likelihood of becoming influential themselves. It is suggested that the strong and consistent connection in cliques is at least partially responsible for the ...
